Shady Grove Ranch distributes the same livestock feeds used in production of naturally pasture-raised meats, including a laying hen ration, broiler ration, swine finishing ration, and sow ration. Most rations come in 50 pound bags, but can be sold in smaller quantities.

We have found that young monogastric animals (like chickens and pigs) benefit from supplementing raw skim milk and/or meat scraps to augment their protein intake, particularly animals being fed soy-free rations. Typical soy-based feed rations are much higher in protein, but we feel that the heavy reliance on soy in farming operations is neither good for the animals nor the humans consuming them.

In addition, since our feeds are non-medicated, young birds will need some form of protection against disease. Fermented products and/or electrolytes are ideal for this, and are especially beneficial in extreme weather.
