One of our favorite things about raising healthy meat on pasture is the comments we get from our customers! Here are a few of the comments we have received:

Everyone I have shared your eggs with has talked about how outstanding they are. My niece says her baked goods are tastier and richer. My mother grew up on a farm in South Dakota and she said they are the best eggs she has had since childhood. Eggs from Whole Foods do not sit well with me and I have been eating yours with no problem.

I have gotten the same feedback about the meat. My sister, due to health reasons, must eat really clean. Her diet requires a fair amount of meat. Normally she does not eat pork but she said she would eat yours any time. And the ground beef is a hit with her as well.

I met you at the Shreveport farmer’s market towards the end of this past summer, and fell in LOVE with your pork chops (my husband and I had the rib chops) – we have since had dreams about these chops, and nothing we’ve ever had at a restaurant or from the grocery store comes anywhere close to comparison! Thanks for doing what you guys do and making these sort of delicious (and healthy!) food experiences possible!!

I seared the beef in a Dutch oven, and was amazed at the difference in the meat from regular grocery store meat.  This beef has a richer, more intense color, and the aroma as it seared… Holy Cow!  It has a rich aroma that is like butter!  The roast is in the oven right now, and the house has an incredible aroma of rich, buttery beef.  I’ve never experienced such a wonderful beef aroma.  [Later, after tasting the shank roast…] W O W ! The flavor was different:  richer and better.  And it did not have that “fatty” mouthfeel nor taste. A beautiful flavor. It was quite a treat. And so tender – the first time I truly had beef melt in my mouth!

I’m writing to say what a treat your grass-fed beef is. I recently picked up a couple of your rib-eyes at the Shreveport Farmers Market. As a life-long, card-carrying carnivore your steaks’ distinctive, natural flavor reminded me of what steak is supposed to taste like! Keep up the good work!

John says: 

I bought some of your ground pork and ground beef at the Shreveport Farmer’s Market Saturday. I mixed the two meats one to one, seasoned with sea-salt and ground black pepper only and grilled over a charcoal fire. I thought this meat made the best hamburgers I have ever eaten. My guests agreed. I will definitely be back for more.

Beth says: 

On July 4th we smoked one of the chickens we purchased from you, along with a package of spicy, link sausage. My husband is still raving about how good they both were. The sausage was incredible. Hopefully you will still have some of the sausage when we are able to get back to the Shreveport Farmer’s Market.

Glad to meet you Saturday at the farmers market. I bought several chickens and plenty of grass fed beef. I smoked one of the chickens Sunday and it was the best chicken I have ever tasted!

My husband and I have made several purchases from you at the Shreveport Farmer’s Market. Our purchases remind me of the meats I ate as a child when staying with my grandparents.

We love all the meat that we get from Shady Grove! We just finished up our breakfast sampler and are ready for another one. Along with the 1/4 cow we purchased with we still have a bunch of. The meat is always flavorful and since we know how it is grown we can savor it all the more. Thank you so much for raising such wonderful stock. We should all strive to replenish the earth and eat healthy !

We have been enjoying our food so much! The chuck roast and pork roast both were spectacularly tender and tasted amazing. I mixed the ground beef and pork sausage and made super meatballs. And my bright orange omelets with the fresh eggs are terrific!

Cathy says: 

I rendered lard for the first time last weekend, using pork fat from Shady Grove Ranch. It was an easy and fun project, yielding 8 nice “bricks” of lard which I wrapped and stored in my freezer. Plus, we got some delicious “cracklin’s” for snacks and to use in cornbread. Today, I made the best chocolate pie from scratch, using my rendered lard in the pie crust and my cowshare milk as the base of the chocolate filling. If I had entered that pie in a bake-off, it would have won first prize without a doubt. Thanks for the information I learned at your cooking class. Even though I’m an experienced cook, I learned a lot! The class was well worth the afternoon of time spent in your kitchen.

    We are so happy to have found your meat and eggs. As a mother of 4, two teens and two under 7, feeding my family clean, unprocessed foods is my goal everyday. I grew up eating what my family farmed and made from scratch and I wanted that for my family too. We love burgers and the ones we make from your ground beef are so rich and satisfying that we don’t even make fries or side dishes anymore because we are so full from the burgers that they are not touched. I cant wait to get oxtails for homemade ragu and gnocchi The eggs are a treat and especially loved by the little ones when they open up the carton and find the green and “blue” eggs.
