Pastured Pork

Our pastured pork is raised naturally on a soy-free feed and is available to those in the East Texas (Longview, Tyler, Marshall, Jefferson) and North Louisiana (Shreveport, Bossier) areas. We sell in small or bulk quantities from the farm in Jefferson. Visit our new online store to check out what’s in stock and to place your order!

Our pigs are vastly different from conventionally raised pork. They are outdoors for their entire lives, free to forage berries, roots, bugs, wild nuts, and plants. In addition, they get a feed ration containing minerals that is soy- and GMO-free. They also receive raw skim milk when available. They are rotated through woods and pasture regularly in order to provide fresh, clean bedding, to prevent parasite problems, and to ensure a diverse, healthy diet. In exchange for this pampered treatment, they produce for us flavorful, tender meat that is high in nutrients such as Vitamin D.

We raise an old-fashioned breed called Large Black Hogs, which are famous for their buttery, juicy meat and delicious fat. Contrary to popular belief, well-raised animal fat can be very beneficial to gut health and weight and health management. Good clean fat is full of fat-soluble nutrients like vitamin A, D, K, and Omega-3 fatty acids. Fat also aids in digestion of protein and helps make you feel fuller longer between meals.

We manage our pigs so they are a healthy mix of fat and muscle–they get plenty of exercise, but are not rail-thin from underfeeding. Large Blacks produce a whiter meat that has great marbling. Our sausage is MSG-free and nitrate-free. The ingredients are listed as follows: Pork, Salt, Red Pepper, Chopped Dalmation Sage, Cane Sugar, Black Pepper, and Oil of Sage.

Never before have you tried anything like pasture-raised pork.

Pigs are named so appropriately. Here you see a group of siblings fighting for their grub. We keep them in large paddocks so they can root around for all sorts of things, but they love their farmer-provided supper, too!

We utilize the natural rooting behavior of the pigs to massage our pasture fertility. They enjoy every minute of it!
